Team Wendy has launched the EXFIL Rescuer helmet line, a platform developed directly from search and rescue field feedback and built to support operations from rugged terrain to coastal and swift water environments.
The range consists of two models: the EXFIL Rescuer for land based missions and the EXFIL Maritime Rescuer for hurricane, maritime and swift water response.
Both helmets use liner systems built with Zorbium foam technology to deliver blunt impact protection and comfort. Each is available in high visibility red or yellow. The EXFIL Maritime Rescuer adds a neutrally buoyant, fast drying liner to ensure consistent performance in water.
Garson Greathouse, Regional Sales Manager for the Southeast at Team Wendy, said: “We wanted to give agencies and public-safety teams a unified system that works across multiple rescue environments. Starting with the same shell used in our popular EXFIL LTP bump helmets, we expanded that foundation by closing the loop with SAR crews, until the platform reflected the realities of the way they actually work onshore and offshore.”
The EXFIL Rescuer weighs 1.59lbs, depending on size and padding, and is designed for the physical demands of wilderness rescue, structural collapse and urban operations. It incorporates an aluminium shroud compatible with helmet lights, night vision and thermal imaging equipment, a lightweight impact modified polycarbonate shell, a Velcro pattern for top mounted lights and strobes, the CAM FIT retention system with BOA adjustment, accessory compatible rails and a low profile sport style chin strap.
The EXFIL Maritime Rescuer retains the core hardware but includes a marine grade liner engineered to eliminate buoyancy related helmet lift. Its under the chin retention system sits clear of comms, snorkels and hoods during water entry.
Greathouse said: “SAR swimmers told us that an over-the-chin or cup-style strap can scoop water and yank the helmet, so you’re constantly retightening it instead of focusing on the rescue. Or, if the liner floats, you get ‘bucketing,’ where the helmet lifts or pulls your head back, and that can break your seal. The EXFIL Maritime Rescuer is our answer to those concerns.”
Team Wendy’s applied science programme, including its DREW rotational impact test system, informed the development of liner technologies used in the new helmets. Both models meet BS EN1385:2012 for whitewater. Agencies can purchase via authorised dealers or through shop.teamwendy.com
