SureCam and Peoplesafe have announced that their video-enabled worker safety service has achieved emergency response times more than 150% faster than standard 999 calls.
The companies say their technology provides the fastest and most comprehensive driver protection solution currently available to fleet operators.
Following a live trial undertaken in collaboration with Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle and asset management solutions, the integrated service recorded an average alarm pick-up time of just six seconds for incidents occurring both inside and outside the vehicle.
The solution combines SureCam’s video telematics platform with Peoplesafe’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), enabling drivers to quickly request assistance during an emergency.
Drivers can raise an alert using an SOS app or device when away from their vehicle or activate an in-vehicle panic button while driving.
Integrated protection with live video verification
Every alarm received by the ARC is verified according to the type of alert, including pressed panic alarms, fall detection, expired timers or triggered camera events, allowing controllers to respond appropriately.
SureCam’s cameras provide live visibility of the front, rear and interior of the vehicle, giving ARC operators immediate situational awareness while capturing audio and video evidence that can be used in legal proceedings if required.
Certified emergency response capability
Peoplesafe’s ARC is certified to BS EN 50518:2019 Category 1 and BS 8484:2022 standards and is operated by experienced personal safety specialists.
The BS 8484:2022 certification enables fleet customers to receive the highest level of police response through a Unique Reference Number (URN), providing direct access to police control rooms without the need to place a 999 call and ensuring the fastest possible emergency response.
Video telematic integration
Sam Footer, Partnership Director at SureCam, said: “By integrating our video telematics platform with Peoplesafe’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), we can provide drivers with a quick and easy way to request assistance in an emergency.
“These latest results demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution, which combines rapid response with complete visibility of emergency incidents as they unfold.”
Naz Dossa, CEO of Peoplesafe, said: “We have worked closely with our fleet industry partners to develop a workforce safety solution that leverages the capabilities of fleet and video telematics to provide complete driver protection.
“Rapid, industry-leading response is an integral part of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of employees driving and working remotely, so we are thrilled by the positive feedback from the live trial.”
Rapid alarm responses
Aaron Jarvis, Vice President at Geotab, added: “Peoplesafe and SureCam have both successfully integrated with MyGeotab, which provides fleet operators with a single, unified view of telematics, video and driver safety.
“Such a rapid alarm response is a powerful safety outcome mitigating driver risk – and one only possible when the underlying data flows without friction between platforms.”
