The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has confirmed the appointment of Louise Hosking as a new non executive director of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Board.
Hosking will replace Professor Gina Radford, who is due to leave the Board in September 2026.
She brings more than 30 years of experience spanning health and safety, environmental health, governance and regulatory assurance to the role.
Extensive safety leadership experience
Hosking began her career as a Local Authority Environmental Health Officer and has since held a range of senior executive and non executive leadership positions across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Her previous roles include Executive Director of Environmental Health at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
IOSH leadership roles
Hosking has also served as President and Chair of Council at IOSH, the global professional body for occupational safety and health.
Her experience includes strategic leadership, governance and stakeholder engagement, providing expertise that will support board level decision making at HSE.
Chair of HSE, Sarah Newton, said: “I am delighted that Louise will be joining us on the HSE Board and I’m sure she’ll make a significant contribution to the HSE Board.
“Louise will be a great addition to our team of effective and committed non-executive directors who are focused on enabling the delivery of HSE’s vitally important mission of protecting people and places.”
