The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) has appointed Sarah Leeson as its new President for 2026 to 2027.
The appointment was confirmed at the Society’s Annual General Meeting and marks a new chapter for BOHS as it continues delivering its five year strategy for 2026 to 2030.
Occupational hygiene experience
Leeson succeeds Adrian Parris and brings more than 30 years of experience in occupational hygiene.
A Chartered Occupational Hygienist and Chartered Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, she spent more than three decades working in the petrochemical industry.
Her senior roles included Industrial Hygiene Manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, overseeing occupational hygiene programmes across multiple countries.
BOHS and Faculty service
Leeson has served as Registrar of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene since 2019, following six years on the Faculty Committee.
She has helped develop and maintain professional standards and has represented the Faculty on the BOHS Board of Trustees.
Jason Hodgkiss has been appointed President Elect. He is a Qualified Occupational Hygienist, Specialist Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, Fellow of the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management, and holds the Institute of Directors’ Diploma in Company Direction.
Hodgkiss has been a BOHS member since the early 1990s and has served as a Regional Organiser and Faculty Committee member.
Sarah Leeson said: “It is a tremendous honour to serve as President of BOHS at such an important time for both the Society and the occupational hygiene profession.
“Worker health protection has never been more important, and BOHS is uniquely placed to lead, influence and support positive change both in the UK and internationally.
“As President, I want to build on the Society’s strong foundations, support the delivery of our new Strategy for 2026–2030, and continue to raise the profile of occupational hygiene.
“I am particularly passionate about encouraging professional development and supporting more members to progress through the profession and achieve Chartered status.
“I also look forward to helping expand BOHS’s global influence through initiatives that improve worker health protection worldwide.”
