The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has appointed Jim Nulsen as its new Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, effective from 19 October.
Nulsen brings more than 20 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships and innovation across the safety, compliance and software sectors.
Experience in safety technology
Most recently, Nulsen served as founder and Principal Consultant at Growth Disco LLC, where he worked as fractional revenue leader for Ally Safety.
He was responsible for revenue strategy across sales, customer success, retention, partnerships and sponsorships.
During his involvement, Ally Safety increased revenue fourfold over two years while more than tripling its customer base.
Nulsen previously held senior positions at Go1, Vector Solutions and Scenario Learning, focusing on strategic partnerships and business development.
Supporting workplace safety innovation
In his new position, Nulsen will oversee ASSP’s sales and business development team alongside its standards development and technical services team.
His responsibilities will include identifying opportunities to translate technical safety expertise and industry standards into practical solutions for organisations.
The appointment supports ASSP’s strategic focus on reducing serious workplace injuries and fatalities through innovation and improved risk management.

Strengthening ASSP leadership
Nulsen holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Miami University in Ohio. He will report directly to McNelly as part of ASSP’s senior leadership team.
