Data software giant Makersite has raised $70.2 million in new funding to expand its AI-powered Product Lifecycle Intelligence platform—an engine designed to help manufacturers build safer, more cost-effective and environmentally sound products.
The platform integrates data on health, safety, environmental impact, cost and regulatory compliance to support smarter product design decisions. By improving visibility across supply chains and development processes, it enables manufacturers to evaluate trade-offs between safety, cost and environmental performance from the earliest stages of design.
CEO and Founder Neil D’Souza said the platform’s aim is to make “sustainable product design the default,” particularly as manufacturers face growing pressure to reduce risk, improve safety and comply with tightening regulations. “This investment marks a critical milestone in our mission… especially in today’s uncertain economic and geopolitical environment,” he said.
The $70.2m Series B round was co-led by Lightrock and Partech, with backing from SE Ventures and existing investors including Hitachi Ventures and KOMPAS VC.
Used by major manufacturers such as Microsoft, Schneider Electric and Daikin, Makersite enables detailed reporting on indicators like product safety, emissions and compliance. Microsoft credits the platform with helping reduce the carbon footprint of its Surface Pro 10 by 28%, while Schneider Electric is expanding its use of the tool to inform safer, greener design decisions across more than 200,000 products.
By linking fragmented data from existing design software and PLM systems, Makersite allows users to assess procurement options, materials and regulatory classifications in real time. This functionality supports compliance, internal collaboration, and stakeholder transparency—especially critical as global regulations and expectations around product safety and environmental impact continue to rise.
