NEBOSH has awarded Honorary Diplomas in Occupational Health and Safety to Rhian Greaves and Lord Bill Jordan in recognition of their contributions to workplace health and safety.
The awards were presented during the NEBOSH 2026 Graduation and Awards Ceremony. Greaves is Partner, Regulatory, Safety, Health and Environment at DAC Beachcroft, while Lord Jordan is Life President of RoSPA and a NEBOSH Ambassador.
Health and safety law
Greaves has more than two decades of experience in health, safety and environmental law and has supported organisations through significant regulatory cases.
Alongside her legal work, she regularly contributes to industry conferences and exhibitions. She is also known for delivering mock trial presentations designed to demonstrate the practical and legal consequences of workplace incidents.
She said: “Working with NEBOSH is an absolute career highlight for me and so to receive this honour is incredible. While health and safety performance in the UK has improved significantly during my career, so much of my caseload still focuses on the real-world impacts of non-compliance and the widespread and traumatic impact of workplace incidents.
“Collaborating with NEBOSH allows me to bring these difficult experiences and their legal consequences to an engaged audience and hopefully play my own small part in making a positive difference. We are lucky to have such a thriving OSH profession, of which NEBOSH is the foundation.
“Congratulations to all this year’s graduates; each of you will bring so much to your organisations and to your colleagues. I am inspired by all of you and look forward to working together with you as you drive further positive improvements in the safety, health and wellbeing in your workplaces.”
International safety work
Lord Jordan has spent much of his career campaigning for improved working conditions internationally.
As leader of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, he advocated for provisions within international trade agreements supporting decent and safe working conditions.
His work also included campaigns addressing child labour in Southeast Asia and forced labour in Myanmar.
Accident prevention
Following his appointment to the House of Lords, Lord Jordan became involved with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
He now serves as RoSPA’s Life President and continues to advocate for accident prevention, including calls for a national Accident Prevention Strategy.
He said: “I am honoured and delighted to receive an Honorary Diploma from NEBOSH, who for nearly half a century have spearheaded and driven health and safety improvements across the world by developing and delivering qualifications that are proven, trusted and of the highest quality.”
The honorary awards recognise both recipients’ contributions to occupational safety and health through legal expertise, education, campaigning and engagement with professionals.
