MSA Safety has launched two new safety products at the 2025 National Safety Congress and Expo in Denver, aimed at improving protection and connectivity for workers in high-risk environments.
The company introduced the V-Gard H2 Full Brim Safety Helmet and the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector—two additions designed to expand its head protection range and connected gas monitoring platform.
The V-Gard H2 Full Brim Helmet builds on MSA’s established head protection series, offering full-brim coverage for added defence against sun, debris and side impacts. Certified to ANSI Type II, the helmet includes an integrated chinstrap and is compatible with a range of V-Gard accessories. It can also be equipped with the Mips rotational impact protection system, which is designed to reduce the risk of brain injury from angled impacts.
The helmet, which is now available for order, offers optional quick branding with custom logos and is designed to give greater choice to workers in demanding sectors such as construction, utilities and heavy industry.
The second product, the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector, is MSA’s first cellular-connected gas detector with an integrated pump, allowing for confined space sampling and pre-entry checks. The handheld device features MSA’s trusted XCell sensors, a removable external battery, and a large display for enhanced visibility in the field.
The io 6 is designed to complement the ALTAIR io 4 wearable gas monitor and is part of the company’s broader Connected Work Platform. Both detectors share the same user interface and are integrated via MSA Grid software, enabling safety managers to monitor real-time alerts, track device locations, and access data across entire fleets of units.
MSA confirmed the io 6 will be available for order later in 2025. The system is intended for industries including oil and gas, manufacturing, and utilities, where gas hazards remain a critical safety concern.
Stephanie Sciullo, President of MSA Americas, said the launches demonstrate the company’s commitment to addressing complex workplace safety needs. She noted that the new equipment was developed to help customers improve protection, streamline compliance, and boost operational efficiency.
In addition to head protection and gas detection, MSA is also showcasing fall protection gear at the expo, including its V-SERIES harness, personal fall limiters and self-retracting lifelines. The company is also displaying items from its respiratory protection portfolio.
For fire and safety professionals, the new helmet and detector offer insight into the evolving toolkit of personal and environmental protection. With greater emphasis on data-driven systems and integrated platforms, such innovations are helping reshape safety management strategies across a range of high-risk sectors.
