Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai is set to become a major platform for global dialogue on safety, health and wellbeing, with a dedicated two-day World Assembly for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) forming a centrepiece of its programme.
Taking place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay, the six-month international exposition will gather experts, governments and innovators under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
The OSH World Assembly—scheduled during the core period of the expo—will focus on the future of work, workplace safety technologies, mental health, and the shared responsibility for wellbeing in the face of climate change, demographic shifts and technological disruption. Organisers aim to elevate safety and health as foundational pillars of sustainable development, placing them alongside climate action and digital transformation in global importance.
Participants will include leading figures from international labour organisations, national safety bodies, academia, and major employers. In-depth panels and case studies will explore practical strategies for reducing workplace risks, enhancing psychosocial resilience, and embedding OSH into corporate governance and public policy.
Beyond the assembly, Expo 2025 will showcase innovations in health technology, smart environments, and inclusive design through its thematic pavilions. These include dedicated spaces focused on life sciences, AI-supported care, ageing populations, and resilience infrastructure—creating a broader context for understanding occupational health as part of societal wellbeing.
With over 150 countries and organisations expected to participate, Expo 2025 offers a global platform to reframe occupational safety and health not only as a regulatory imperative but as a driver of equity, productivity, and human dignity in the 21st century workplace. The World Assembly promises to be a defining moment in that conversation.
