Blackline Safety has launched G8, a new connected safety wearable that combines gas detection, lone worker protection and communications in a single device.
The company says G8 is its most connected wearable to date and is designed as a platform for data driven worksites, streaming real time information to the cloud to support faster decision making.

Expanded capability
G8 builds on Blackline’s G7 range, adding new hardware and software features aimed at improving situational awareness, communications and usability across industrial environments.
At its core, G8 is an IP67 rated, intrinsically safe connected gas detector with swappable cartridges supporting more than 20 gases. The device also integrates lone worker monitoring, including fall detection, no motion, health events and physical assault alerts, alongside dual band GNSS and GPS for more accurate location tracking.
The device connects to Blackline Live, the company’s cloud platform, enabling geofencing through ZoneAware and giving safety teams real time visibility of worker location, gas exposure and site conditions.
Communications and visibility in one device
Blackline positions G8 as a consolidation of multiple tools into a single wearable. Communications are delivered through push to talk functionality, emergency voice calling to live monitoring agents and text messaging for individual or mass notifications.
The device includes a larger colour display than previous models, NFC based device assignment for faster shift starts and an integrated flashlight for low light or confined spaces. An upgraded speaker and optional remote speaker microphone are designed to ensure alerts and voice communications remain audible in high noise environments.
Real time data for safety and operations
All G8 devices stream live data to Blackline Live, providing safety and operations teams with continuous insight into workforce status and site conditions. Blackline says this supports faster emergency response, improved compliance and reduced operational disruption.
A future ready platform
Unlike traditional gas detectors, G8 is positioned as a platform designed to integrate with wider digital worksite systems, including HR, field service management and permit to work applications. Automatic firmware updates are intended to allow new features and integrations to be added over time.

G8 is protected by more than a dozen patents, with additional patents pending. Blackline Safety is taking orders now, with first shipments expected in February 2026.
