The German Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, Basi, has opened its call for participation for the 40th International A+A Congress 2027.
Taking place in Düsseldorf from 19 to 22 October 2027 alongside the international A+A trade fair, the congress will examine the role of occupational safety and health in supporting organisational and workforce resilience.
The anniversary event will take place under the theme “Stability through prevention: occupational safety and health as the key to crisis resilience in turbulent times”.
Prevention and resilience
Basi is inviting occupational safety and health professionals, researchers and other contributors to submit proposals addressing the challenges facing workplaces and organisations.
Dr Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, said:“Occupational safety and health is not a cost factor, but a factor for stability. Companies that invest in prevention safeguard their performance, not least in turbulent times.
“‘People matter’. Visitors to the 40th A+A Congress in 2027 will be able to experience in full what this motto means. Our experts will demonstrate how occupational safety and health engenders resilience.
“At the A+A 2027, we will unite knowledge, practical experience and the will to bring about change, under one banner.”
Germany’s Federal Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Bärbel Bas, has also supported the call for participation.
She highlighted the role of preventative activity in supporting businesses, workers and society amid international crises, climate change and the digital transformation of work.
Six topic areas
Submissions are being invited across six topic clusters covering different aspects of workplace resilience.
These include organisational resilience and agency, human resilience and safe working practices, and the resilience of technology, digital systems and infrastructure.
Other areas cover the transformation of work, skills and future readiness, cooperation and societal resilience, and the legal, organisational and cultural conditions required to support resilience.
Different presentation formats encouraged
Contributors can submit case studies, research findings, project presentations, posters, workshops and dialogue based formats.
Alongside conventional lectures, posters and panel discussions, Basi is encouraging interactive approaches to presenting occupational safety and health knowledge.
Suggested formats include World Café, Fishbowl and BarCamp sessions.
Contributors can also propose PechaKucha presentations, which use 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each to provide concise presentations of projects, research or practical experience.
Submissions for the 40th International A+A Congress can be made through Basi’s online participation portal. The deadline is October 15.
